Mechanical Embolectomy
Mechanical embolectomy is an alternative strategy for opening the intracranial vessels during an ischemic stroke. It is especially useful for patients who are neither eligible for intravenous nor intra-arterial thrombolysis. Mechanical embolectomy uses a small device to snare and pull the blood clot from the artery.
