Andrew R. Xavier, MD, is the Medical Director of the SJMO Neuroendovascular department and provides support to patients who are referred by the Michigan Stroke Network. Dr. Xavier
earned his medical degree at the University of Madras in Madras, India. He was a junior resident
at Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research at Dhanvantri Nagar,
Pondicherry, India; completed his internship at the Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in New
York and his residency at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, also in New York.
He was a Clinical Associate at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and completed a
fellowship at the State University of New York at Buffalo and at the University of Medicine and
Dentistry of New Jersey. Dr. Xavier is currently an Assistant Professor in the Departments of
Neurosurgery, Neurology and Radiology at the Wayne State University School of Medicine. He has
many honors, awards and publications to his credit and has given numerous presentations.
Dr. Xavier is board certified.
